Flags

The Never Forget Flag was created by Gwen Loiacono.
- The stars symbolize the airplanes that were needlessly sacrificed on 9-11-2001.The star outside the pentagon represents the plane diverted by the brave passengers, saving hundreds of lives.
- The red background of the flag symbolizes the lives lost and the bloodshed of our fellow Americans… past, present and future.
- The pentagon and two rectangles represent three of the most recognized structures ever built on US soil. The Twin Towers may be out of our sight, but never out of our minds.
- The circle around the pentagon represents the unity that occurred after the tragedy. Instead of fear
- and helplessness, Americans united, to comfort grieving hearts and restore shattered dreams.
- The GOD BLESS AMERICA slogan has been adopted to represent the hope and faith of our nation… a reminder to the world that evil may pierce our hearts, but God will permeate our souls.
- The NEVER FORGET version of the flag was added in 2004, at the request of the US Army’s 42nd Infantry Division.
The Flag of Heroes & The Flag of Honor were created by John Michelotti
My inspiration for designing the Flag of Honor and the Flag of Heroes was the desire:
- To immortalize the individual victims that were killed in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
The Flag of Honor contains the names of all those that perished in the World Trade Towers, the Pentagon, United flights175 and 93 and American flights 11 and 77.*
The Flag of Heroes contains the names of the emergency services personnel – the heroes who gave their lives so that others could live.*
* as of 09/11/08
Together these flags give the families, friends, all of America and the world symbols that will forever memorialize, individually, the men, women and children that were lost that dreadful day.
We shall never forget them.
John Michelotti
